Scholarships/Loans

The College of Education and Health Professions lists a number of scholarships in varying amounts for both undergraduate and graduate students. Recipient selection is based on a variety of criteria that are specific to each award. Criteria may include, but are not limited to, the basis of promise, character, leadership skills, scholarship, or financial need. Those scholarship opportunities below that are not affiliated with the University of Arkansas are listed as a courtesy to organizations and a source of information to students, but they have not necessarily been reviewed for accuracy or quality.

College of Education and Health Professions Scholarships

General scholarships can go to qualified students in the college, which includes the Eleanor Mann School of Nursing.

Briton Endowed Award in Nursing

The purpose of the Briton Endowed Award in Nursing is to encourage research by qualified nursing students who are learning to conduct research that will advance knowledge in the area of nursing science and practice in the area of women's health. Applicants must be an undergraduate or graduate student currently enrolled in the Eleanor Mann School of Nursing who is in good academic standing and interested in women's health.

Nurse Faculty Loan Program

The Nurse Faculty Loan Program is a low-interest federal loan repayment program offered by the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services: Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). Schools of Nursing who offer M.S.N. and doctoral degrees with specific Nurse Educator tracks can apply for the grant. Awards are distributed to qualified students in the form of low-interest loans. After the student graduates and begins working as full-time faculty, up to 85 percent of the NFLP loan may be completely forgiven.

Tonya Terry Endowed Doctor of Nursing Practice Scholarship

Doctor of Nursing Practice students are eligible for the Tonya Terry Endowed Doctor of Nursing Practice Scholarship. Students may apply for the scholarship when the application period for the College of Education and Health Professions opens in January. The application is available online through the month of January.

University of Arkansas Scholarships

The University of Arkansas offers a number of university wide scholarships for which College of Education and Health Professions students may be eligible. For more information on university wide scholarships visit the Academic Scholarship Office.

General Scholarship Opportunities

AfterCollege/American Association of Colleges of Nursing Scholarship Fund

This scholarship program supports students who are seeking a baccalaureate, master's or doctoral degree in nursing. The deadlines are April 30, July 31 and Oct. 31. For more information and to apply, please visit the website of AfterCollege.

Altrusa International of Fayetteville Scholarship

This year we are pleased to have increased each of the two Single Parent scholarships to $1,500. Applications and guidelines are available on our website.

Arkansas Department of Higher Education

Provides forgivable loans to students pursuing a course of study leading to qualification as a nurse educator. Funding for this program is provided through the Arkansas State Board of Nursing. All eligible applicants will be considered for award by the Arkansas State Board of Nursing. Visit the website.

Arkansas Graduate Nursing Education Student Loan and Scholarship Program

The Arkansas Graduate Nursing Education Student Loan and Scholarship Program, Act 1468, was originally established in 1995 and is designed to increase the number of advanced practice nurses, clinical nurse specialists, and nurse educators in the state of Arkansas. The AGNSLS program is an excellent opportunity to help fund your graduate nursing degree while meeting the health care needs of Arkansas and/or addressing the nursing faculty shortage.

American Association of Colleges of Nursing

The American Association of Colleges of Nursing has formed the Graduate Nursing Student Academy to provide high-value programs, services and resources to nursing students enrolled in master's and doctoral programs. American Psychiatric Nurses Association

The APNA offers awards, recognition, and scholarships each year to practicing, teaching, and aspiring psychiatric-mental health nurses. The Awards and Scholarships page of the association website has information.

Caring.com Scholarships for Student Caregivers

Caring.com is an information portal for those caring for aging parents, spouses and other loved ones. Its website lists several scholarship opportunities, at Scholarships for Student Caregivers and Scholarships for Students Interested in Assisted Living Careers.

Faith A. Fields Nursing Scholarship Loan

Information on the Faith A. Fields Nursing Scholarship Loan is available through the Arkansas State Board of Nursing Loans and Scholarships page.

Greta James Memorial Scholarship

Scrubshopper, a local business that provides uniforms for nursing students at the University of Arkansas, will award six $100 scholarships to use toward the purchase of uniforms. To learn more, visit the website.

Pi Theta Scholarship

The Pi Theta Kappa Honor Society offers several scholarships including the Hurst Review NCLEX Scholarship for nursing students.

Barbara Rhomberg Excellence in Nursing Scholarship sponsored by B4 Brands

The Barbara Rhomberg Excellence in Nursing Scholarship, sponsored by B4 Brands, is awarded each year to five, non-traditional, full-time students pursuing undergraduate degrees in nursing. All scholarship winners receive a non-renewable scholarship of $1,000 payable directly to the institution in which they are enrolled. More information is available online.

RNCareers.org RN to BSN Scholarship

This scholarship recognizes an outstanding nursing student enrolled in an accredited Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.S.N.) program.

Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates

The Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates RN General Education Scholarship offers funds of $2,500 as a reimbursement to a student in an accredited nursing program. Information is available online.

U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration

Nursing Scholarship Program - Applications accepted April 1 through May 8. Available to students enrolled in all types of registered nursing programs, the Nursing Scholarship Program pays tuition, education-related expenses (including books, clinical supplies and laboratory fees) and a living stipend. In exchange, scholars must commit to working for at least two years after graduation at a health facility with a critical shortage of nurses. Go to the website for more information and applications.
