Pi Theta Chapter
Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing
Purpose: To recognize superior achievement in nursing, to recognize the development of leadership qualities, to foster high professional standards in the field, to encourage creative work, and to strengthen commitment to the ideals and purposes of the profession.
Mission: The mission of the Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International, is advancing world health and celebrating nursing excellence in scholarship, leadership, and service.
Vision: Sigma Theta Tau International's vision is to be the global organization of choice for nursing.
Membership: STTI membership is by invitation to baccalaureate and graduate nursing students who demonstrate excellence in scholarship and to nurse leaders exhibiting exceptional achievements in nursing.
Membership Criteria
Undergraduate students must:
- Have completed one-half of the nursing curriculum
- Have at least a grade-point aversage of 3.0 (based on a 4.0 scale)
- Rank in the upper 35 percentile of the graduating class
- Meet the expectation of academic integrity
Registered Nurse students must:
- Have completed 12 credit hours at current school
- Have completed one-half of the nursing curriculum
- Have at least a GPA of 3.0
- Rank in the upper 35 percentile of graduating class
- Meet the expectation of academic integrity
Graduate students must:
- Have completed one-quarter of the nursing curriculum
- Have at least a GPA of 3.5
- Meet the expectation of academic integrity
Nurse leader candidates must:
- Be legally recognized to practice nursing in their country
- Have a minimum of a baccalaureate degree or the equivalent in any field
- Have demonstrated achievement in nursing
